Fracas between 2 groups over Eid Namaz at Ullal Central Juma Masjid

Mangaluru, June 26, 2017: The confusion over the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations in Ullal  in the backdrop of the Ullal Khazi  Koorat Tangal not  declaring Sunday as Eid day in accordance to the call of his counterparts in  Mangaluru and Udupi, continued even on Monday.

Several Muslims who had continued Ramzan fasting on Sunday had arrived at the Central Juma Masjid here on  Monday for the Eid Namaz when there arose a confusion as the mosque had organised Eid Namaz even on Sunday.

On Monday at around 12.15 noon,   some people under the leadership of   the Ullal Millat Nagar Khatib Shihab Sakhafi had arrived for the Eid Namaz when the doors of the mosque were closed, resulting in altercation and fracas between two groups.

As tension prevailed, Ullal police rushed to the spot and ensured that the masjid doors were opened and people were allowed to offer Namaz.

A person named Mohammad Rilwan(28) of Ullal Mastikatte has sustained minor injuries  during the melee.  He has clarified that no one had caused injury to him deliberately and that  he sustained injuries when he tried to intervene to pacify the warring groups.
