Fr Edwin Mascarenhas, principal of St Sebastian College passes away

Mangaluru, Sept 20, 2020: Principal of St Sebastian Pre University and Degree College near Thokkuttu and parish priest of Mariashram, Talapady, Fr Edwin Cyril Mascarenhas passed away on Sunday, September 20 after a brief illness. He was 57.

Fr Edwin was born on 9 July 1963, in Kelmbet, near Belman, to Maurice and Faustine Mascarenhas. He was ordained priest on May 7, 1991.

He served as assistant parish priest of Shirva, Omzoor and Bendore parishes between 1991 and 1997, before taking charge as parish priest of Petri.

He was appointed headmaster of St Joseph institution in Bidar in 1999, and served as its principal from 2001 to 2003, before being appointed principal of St Antony PU College, Naravi.

In 2005, he was appointed parish priest of Anegudde, and later served as principal of Permannur College, Mariashram.

The body will be kept for viewing from 2.15 pm at the Church. The funeral will be held at his home parish Kelmbet on Sunday at 4 pm, sources said.
