Mangaluru, Mar 10, 2018: The foundation laying ceremony for various projects as part of upgradation plans of the District Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru was held on March 10, Saturday.
DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai laid the foundation for the super speciality block of the Hospital, District Public Health Laboratory, District Ayush Hospital Building and additional building for Regional Advanced Paediatric Care Centre (RAPCC).
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the RAPCC at the Wenlock would be upgraded at a cost of Rs 3 crores and would be upgraded to Indira Gandhi National Child Institute as in Bengaluru.
The new Block of Ladygoschen Hospital would be inaugurated soon, he said.
Chief guest of the occasion, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader said allopathic and AYUSH treatment would be available under one roof for the patients once the Ayush block starts functioning. He said the Hospital with most modern facilities would be a super-speciality hospital in two years.
MLA JR Lobo presided over the function. Mayor Bhasker Moily, Deputy Mayor Muhammad Kunjathbail, TP Chief Mohammad Monu, Dr Shivaprasad, Principal of Fr Muller Homeopathy College, Dr Vanitha Shetty Principal of Alva’s Naturopathy College, Dr Santosh, Principal of Karnataka Ayurvedic College, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao, Wenlock Superintendent Dr Rajeshwari Devi and others were present.
The MRI scanning department in the Hospital, sponsored by Hindustan Healthcare Ltd since April 1, 2017 was formally inaugurated on Friday. T he centre has done 2265 scans including 95 free scans so far.
