Foundation Stone for Veterinary College at Puttur by CM Siddaramaiah

Puttur, Oct 09, 2016: Chief Minister Siddarammaih laid foundation stone for the new Veterinary college at Koyla near Puttur today October 09, Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion CM Siddarammaih said that, The College had been sanctioned when D.V. Sadananda Gowda was the Chief Minister. He had announced the setting up of the college in the 2012-13 Budget. The government has given administrative approval to open the college on the premises of Livestock Breeding and Training Centre of the Department of Animal Husbandry in the village at an estimated cost of Rs. 142 crore for which 247 acre land has been handed over at the village.

Overall 692 posts of veterinary doctors and 300 posts of Assistant Director, Animal Husbandry are lying vacant in the State. Hence there is scope for veterinary graduates to serve in the government sector. When the college at Koila becomes functional, it could admit 60 students a year.

Siddarammaih hoped that this college will be helpful for the student’s who reside in remote areas to pursue their higher education.

Reacting to the demands of Ramanath Rai , Siddarammaih assured a new degree college in Kadaba during 2017-18 budget and also to include Kadaba as a separate taluk.

He further stated that, karnataka secure second position in milk production next to Gujarath and KMF produces nearly 75 litres of Milk. Various schemes have been enforced Ksheera Bhagya and Krishi bhagya in which 75% of people are beneficiated with this scheme.

So far 3,628 endosulfan patients have been identified and treated. There is high demand for Krishi Bhagya in North Karnataka except in Dakshina Kannada so far it able to reach for over 1 lakh beneficiaries. Even Vidyasiri scheme reached for over 1 lakh  students.
