Former mayor Abdul Aziz handed 2 month jail term

Mangalore, Sep 09, 2014:  according to reports, the III JMF Court on Sept 8,  sentenced former mayor Abdul Ajeej to two months of imprisonment, for violating the model code of conduct. The court also fined him Rs 10,000.

Ajeej had carried out election campaign in the labourers colony at Padavu, in a car belonging to his wife without taking permission from the authorities, on May 6, 2008. There were pamphlets of candidate Ivan D’Souza in his car. Assistant election officer Praveenchandra Karkera had submitted a complaint to the Mangalore rural police station in this regard.
