Former Mayor, Ramesh Kotian is no more

Mangalore, Apr 4, 2011: Ramesh Kotian, Former Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation(MCC), passed away in a private hospital at Mangalore on Sunday April 3 night.

 

He was admitted to KMC Hospital a few days back. He breathed his last late in the night, Sunday, April, 3 .

He was the Mayor of Mangalore from 28 May 1994 to 1st June, 1995 and from 31st June, 1999 to 31st May 2000. The funeral will be held  in Mangalore on Monday April 4. 

 

Ramesh Kotian had initiated the much needed changes to the city during his second tenure.  The Mangalore city was facing lots of problem during his first tenure.  He could not solve much of the problems due to lack of funds. He took initiation to resolve the issues pertaining to the Hampanakatta Bus stand and setting up of commercial complexes.

During his second tenure, the HUDCO had come forwarded to finance the new schemes of the MCC. He had also approached the Asian Development Bank for financial help to get good underground drainage system in the city.
