Foreign students and locals being monitored to avoid bad blood: ADGP

Mangaluru, Feb 18, 2016; Talking to media here on Feb 17, Wednesday,   Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Alok Mohan  indicated that precautions have been taken to prevent possible clashes between foreign students and local residents in Mangaluru and Manipal similar to that which occurred recently in Bengaluru. ADGP  Mohan said that the situation in Mangaluru and Manipal was quite different from that in Bengaluru.


Alok MohanUnlike Bengaluru, foreign students are not in large number in these places. Most of foreign students in Mangaluru and Manipal are in medical colleges.  But, the police had taken precautions to prevent any incident like that of the assault of the Tanzanian woman by local residents in Bengaluru  recently.

ADGP  Mohan said that police constables were monitoring foreign students vis a vis residents. Police patrolling has been intensified in areas where these students are staying.  Police were strictly monitoring the visas of foreign students and sending back those who are overstaying.
