Foreign national case : Kasargod cops gather vital clues

Kasargod, Dec 28,2015 : The Kasargod Police who were virtually struggling to ascertain the identity of a man said to be a Saudi national who was released recently after completing two years of jail term for intruding into the nation without a visa, have now reportedly gathered some information that could help them establish the identity of the man.


Foreign national casePresently, the released man named Abdul Basheer is provided shelter at Snehalaya at Manjeshwar as no other organisation came to his  rescue as there were no documents to prove his identity or nationality.

Though the man  who spoke vaguely had told the police that his name was Abdul Basheer, the information which police received through  Shafi Kalluvalappil of Nayammaramoole who had managed to trace Basheer’s family in Saudi Arabia, stated that his name was Noor Basheer. It is said this information was provided by Noor Basheer’s brother Abdul Basheer in Saudi Arabia. It is learnt  Basheer’s father has expired six years ago, while his mother  was ailing.

Police have now received an old photograph of the man  as also  the ID card issued by  the Police Department. It has been gathered that the family was from Pakistan and from  they had migrated to Saudi Arabia where three members of teh family managed to get citizenship while Noor Basheer did not.

Meanwhile, S Mohammad Sagir, District Collector has said the administration has written to the Union Home Ministry urging it to provide a migrant status to Basheer. A decision regarding Basheer would be taken upon verification of documents, he added.
