Flower exhibition at Shivalli January 29 - 31

Udupi, Jan 28, 2016 : Addressing a press conference here on Jan 27, Wednesday, Horticulture Department Deputy Director K A Vijaykumar said a demonstration on terrace gardening, stalls from other departments and modernised farming tools display will be held Jan 29 -31. He added that organic farming is encouraged in the district by providing subsidies.  


Flower exhibition at Shivalli January


A demonstration on ’Mattu Gulla’ and ’Udupi Mallige’ plantation will be organised at the flower expo 2016 in flower auction centre scheduled to be held at Shivalli from January 29 to 31.

At least 32 varieties of flowers and nearly 10,000 flower plants have been grown in 5,000 pots. Flower species like Caladiums, Marigolds, Petunias Angelonia, Begonia, Celosia, Coleus, Impatiens, NG Impatiens, Salvia, Verbena, Vinca, and Zinnia will be displayed in the exhibition.

A flower Rangoli of the portrait of national leaders will be part of the exhibition. The State government has released Rs 3 lakh. The National Horticulture Mission and the ATMA Yojane have released Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 50,000 for the purpose, he added.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Vishal R will inaugurate the flower exhibition and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Priyanka Mary Francis will preside over the programme, he said.
