MLC D’Souza said the corporation should issue future building licences by adding this particular clause. He said the city required separate parking facilities for goods vehicles and private buses plying to outstation destinations. MLC D’Souza said potholes, particularly in Karavali and Bendoorwell Circles, were resulting in slow movement of traffic.

Mayor Kavita Sanil asked revenue officials of the corporation to impose heavy fine on commercial shops that reserved parking in front of their establishments. Many had erected chain barricades reserving parking. The corporation officials had removed 12 such chain barricades recently. But, they were back once the officials left the spot. The Mayor said the South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank had agreed to demolish its compound wall on K.S. Rao Road and rebuild it by leaving the road space. A participant suggested that city buses could be parked on the road abutting Nehru Maidan between A.B. Shetty Circle and Town Hall. It would reduce traffic congestion in the State Bank of India area.

A participant questioned the corporation allowing parking outside a jewellery outlet on K.S. Rao Road when there was enough parking space available in the basement of the same building. Roopa D. Bangera, councillor, said some city buses were plying on the sub-roads deviating from M.G. Road adding to the traffic jam. They were particularly plying on Bejai Road.
