Five more succumb to Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada; tally rises to 46

https://www.mangaloretoday.com/upimages/mangalore-covid19-23apr20-dis.jpgMangaluru, July 12, 2020: Five persons have succumbed to Coronavirus infection in Dakshina Kannada district on July 12, Sunday. The victims are identified as 60-year-old man from Beltangady and 50 year old man from Puttur.

The 50 year old patient is admitted to hospital for treatment to fever. It is the second death related to Covid-19 in Puttur taluk on the other hand a 60-year-old man from Pilichamundikallu at Kuvettu village has become the first COVID-19 casualty in the Beltangady taluk.

He was admitted to the Belthangady Government Hospital two days ago. His swab samples was sent for test two days ago and the result which was received on Sunday confirmed that he had contracted the virus.

The area where the man lived has now been sealed. The funeral will be conducted in Beltangady under the direction of local tehsildar.

At least 3 to 5 cases are reported every day from Belathangady. As a precautionary measure, a voluntary curfew will be held from 2 pm on July 14 by local merchants and autorickshaw drivers.
