Five arrested in Kateel Asrana’s house dacoity case

Mangaluru, Oct 17, 2016: CCB Police succeeded in detaining five persons in relation to the Vasudev Asranna dacoity case at Kateel on October 04, informed Police Commissioner M Chandrashekar.

The arrested have been identified as Sudhindra Rao (33) resident of Bejai, Chidanand (33) resident of Yekkar, Suraj Kumar (35) resident of Permude, Suresh Kumar (40) resident of Adyanadka and Sadashiva Shetty (49) resident of Yekkaru.


Addressing Media at his office today October 17, he said that, after the credible information CCB Police swung into action and detained five accused at Yekkar. Police seized mobile phones, Hyundai I 20 car, Rs 4, 25,000 cash and Durga Parameshwari gold pendent from their possession.


As the Prime accused Sudhindra Rao is a buisnessman and a real estate owner. He had taken several loans, in order to repay the loan he hatched a conspiracy, he added.


During the time of interrogation the five accused revealed that they have planned the theft and other six accused executed the plan. The six accused are at large and search is on for the accused, said Chandrashekar.


One of the arrested Suresh Kumar is an employee at Kateel temple and a relative of prime accused, while Sadashiv Shetty is the driver of Rao.


Four teams were formed and with the help of Forensic method, technical expertise Police able to nab the accused. Fire arms, one revolver and lethal weapons have been used by the miscreants which yet to be recovered. 80 sovereign of gold ornaments are also yet to be recovered, said Chandrashekar.


The operation was carried out by CCB Inspector Sunil Y Nayak, Bajpe Inspector TD Nagaraj, and others.


Derogatory remarks on Kateel deity


Police Commissioner M Chandrashekar said that, police have filed a non-cognizable complaint against Facebook for failing to furnish details to the police in connection with derogatory comments on Kateel deity on Facebook.

He also said that, complaint under IPC Section 176 has been registered. After getting permission from the court, the police will act against the Facebook.
