Fishing boat tragedy : Fisheries Port comes to standstill

Mangaluru, Dec 02, 2020:    Fishermen have suspended all activities at the fisheries port  in Mangaluru in  the wake of Monday evening’s fishing boat tragedy at Ullal that has claimed three lives  so far while three more fishermen  out of the six who went missing    are yet to be traced.

If the bodies of two of the fishermen were traced on Tuesday, the body of one more missing fisherman was found on Wednesday. Search for the remaining three  is underway.

Fishermen have demanded that those missing should be traced at the earliest and that no fishing activity will be undertaken until then.

Fishermen who have gathered at the old port are protesting holding  black  flags. Police are also at the spot in order to ensure peace.

The fishing boat named  Shree Raksha owned by Prashanth of Bolar had capsized at around 6.30 pm on Monday. There were around 25 fishermen in the boat and 19 of them have  escaped unhurt.
