Fishing Boats Vanished or Sunk

Mangalore/Udupi, Nov 11: Owing to heavy storms, 4 of the boats that had ventured out to sea for deep fishing have been reported drowned and 4 are reported missing. 

Two deep-sea fishing boats from Malpe have sunk near Karwar and Goa. 

A deep-sea fishing boat, “Suraksha,” belonging to Shivaram B Salian of Thottam-badanidiyoor sank near Mangalore on Tuesday evening. The fishermen in boats nearby rescued the crew comprising Honnappa Mogera, Bhuvan, Suresh, Manjunath, Krishna, Hemanth, and Gajanana. The financial loss to the owner is estimated to be around Rs 30 lakhs. 

Another fishing boat belonging to Shyamala Kunder sank near Karwar. The crew of 7 has been rescued by fishermen nearby, and the boat owner has informed that the financial loss is estimated to be Rs 25 lakhs. 

A small fishing boat with 3 fishermen has vanished along the coast of Malpe. 

Another small fishing boat was ripped apart by the powerful waves of the sea. The crew of a deep sea fishing boat called “Karthik Fins” spotted 4 fishermen who were in that ill-fated boat clinging to the debris and rescued them immediately. 

A deep sea fishing boat called “Siphronics” is stranded in mid-sea because of a stalled engine. So far, there is no news of that fishing vessel.
