First batch of Hajj pilgrims to leave today from Mangalore AirportMangalore, October 28: Over 220 Hajj pilgrims will board the direct Hajj flight from Mangalore to Jeddah this year. This flight will depart from Mangalore International Airport on Oct 28, Thursday.


Mumtaz Ali Khan, the minister for Hajj and Wakf, who is currently in Mangalore, will flag off the first batch of Hajj pilgrims, who will leave Mangalore at 2:10 p.m.today.


S. H. Usman, the chairman of the District Wakf Committee, said that more than 500 Hajj pilgrims have registered for the Hajj camp, which commenced on Oct 25 at the old terminal building of Mangalore International Airport. The committee had arranged food and accommodation for them; and dozens of volunteers are helping the pilgrims at the camp.


The direct Mangalore – Jeddah Hajj flights will run for 3 consecutive days; and 880 Hajj pilgrims will fly from Mangalore in four batches of 220 pilgrims each. The flight timings are as follows: the first flight will take off at 2:10 p.m. on Oct 28, the second flight at 7:30 p.m. on Oct 29; the third flight at 11:55 p.m. on Oct 29; and the fourth flight at 9:30 p.m. on Oct 30.
