Fire destroys rubber plantation in Moodbidri

Moodbidri, March 02, 2015: A rubber plantation was gutted in a fire mishap at Mithotta in Mantradi village near Moodbidri on March 1, Sunday.

 

The fire was first noticed at 10 am and it soon engulfed the entire plantation. By the time the fire tender vehicles rushed to the spot and put out the fire, it had already done much damage to the nearly one and a half acre plantation belonging to Chacko Joseph.

According to sources, the loss has been put at nearly Rs 2 lakhs. The cause of the fire is not yet clear.

Though fire was later noticed in a neighbouring plantation, the locals soon plunged into action and put out the fire.
