Fire damages godown near Kundapur

Kundapur, Feb 25, 2016 :  As per reports, fire broke out in a chemical firm’s godown located at the Koteshwar Industrial Area at Koteshwar near Kundapur on Feb 24,Wednesday, but there was no loss of life or injury.

The godown belongs to Damodar Chemicals. The staff of the industries informed the Fire and Emergency Services at around 11.30 a.m. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and used foam to control the fire. It took the personnel of Fire and Emergency Services about two-and-a-half hours to completely extinguish the fire.

According to Naveen, Assistant Fire Officer, the godown had about 40 of bags X 1 ton, containing chemical powder used for the manufacture of brake liners and clutch plates and were charred.

Most of the godown was reduced to ashes and the walls developed cracks. The cause for the fire is yet to be investigated as there was no power supply to the godown.
