Fencing work commences on either sides of Netravathi bridge

Mangaluru, July 5, 2020: The task of erecting fencing on either sides of the Netravathi bridge has commenced on July 4, Saturday. This has been a long pending demand in the wake of the increasing number of suicides at this spot in the recent past with many jumping into the river from this bridge.

Here it is also worth mentioning that Cafe Coffee Day founder VG Siddartha too had plunged into the Netravathi river from the very same bridge about a year ago.

The project is taken up at a cost of Rs 55 lakhs. Apart from fencing, CC Cameras too will be installed.  The fencing measuring 800 meters on either side will be made usign steel rods, informed  MLA of Mangaluru South D Vedavyasa Kamath after performing the Guddali Pooja for the works on Saturday.

MUDA  Chairman Ravishanker Mijar, Mayor Diwaker Pandeshwar and others were present.
