Femina Miss India Runner-up Aafreen Rachel Vaz gets rousing reception in city

Mangaluru, Apr 06, 2015: Femina Miss India 2015 pageant runner-up Aafreen Rachel Vaz of Mangaluru received a rousing reception at the Mangaluru International Airport upon her arrival here on April 6, Monday from Mumbai. She was warmly received by her  family and friends at the airport.

Elated by the warm welcome she received, Aafreen said she was happy to return to Mangaluru where she is doing her medicine at the AJ Institute of Medical Sciences.

Aafreen expressed her sincere gratitude to her family, friends and teachers as well as Charan Suvarna and  Anupama Suvarna of FashionABCD who have supported her throughout the contest. She said she now has the responsibility of representing India in international events and said she would concentrate on her  studies  and try to balance between her studies and her responsibilities as Femina Miss India runner-up. On the Femina Miss India pageant, Aafreen said  it was highly competitive.

Aafreen Rachel Vaz, 1st runner up at fbb Femina Miss India 2015 was seen visiting her hometown Mangalore where she was greeted with overwhelming joy of her family, friends and well-wishers. Afreen who is a student of medicine at a renowned college in city of Mangalore was welcomed in a magnificent way.

Aafreen was born and brought up in Mumbai and moved to New Zealand for higher studies. She completed her Bachelor in Science with major in Physiology from the University of Otago, New Zealand. She has also done her one year Radiation therapy from the University of Otago and has also been awarded a scholarship from the Royal Society of Breast Cancer.  Currently, she is pursuing Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the AJ Institute of medical science, Mangalore.

Aafreen was felicitated at a program organized by her institute and the occasion was graced by many dignitaries of the city, including Mr. A.J Shetty, Mr. Ramnath Rai, Forest and District Inc. Minister Sandesh Shenoy, CEO, Volkswagen, Mr. Dharmaiyya, ex-DCP of the city and others who gathered to convey their wishes.

Expressing her gratitude, Aafreen said, ‘It is really heart-warming to see so many well-wishers and be welcomed like a queen in my own city. The love and endless support of my family and friends have made this dream possible for me. I would also like to thank the Miss India Organization for providing me with such a platform. I am also thankful to the people of Mangalore for believing in me and for showing me with so much love and good wishes. I hope to perform my best with this title and make a difference.’

Talking about her future plans, Aafreen mentioned that apart from the various national and international platforms that the crown takes her to, she will also be launching her own institute which will work towards spreading awareness about breast cancer amongst Indian Women.
