Mangaluru, Mar 17, 2017 : The Pilikula Nisargadhama at Vamanjoor in the outskirts of Mangaluru now has another attraction. It’s a Hippopotamus which has been brought here from the Bannerghatta National Park in Bengaluru on March 16, Thursday.
The hippo is basically from Africa and is 10 years and five months old and is named Kaveri. She weighs nearly two tonnes.
Pilikula sources informed that two more Hippos are scheduled to be brought here so that the Bengaluru Hippo gets company. According to Jayaprakash Bhandary, Director of Pilikula, the Park is set to receive a female tiger, ten night heron birds as well as a hanuman female monkey as part of exchange of animals scheme. Similarly, a male tiger, a Hanuman male money, a jungle fowl, wild sheep and eight golden foxes are expected to be sent to Bannerghatta Park from here.
