Father and son die while making bombs

Bhatkal, September 6: Two persons died in the process of making bombs in their house in Madgarkeri, which comes under Belke Panchayath, in Bhatkal on Sunday evening. Police sources have disclosed that the father and son duo were making bombs for the purpose of hunting when a bomb suddenly went off.


Deputy Superintendent Dr. Vedamurthy, CPI Gurumathorr, PSI Thimmappa Naik, a fire brigade, and an ambulance gathered at the spot in no time. The blast damaged the tiles of the roof and also created a depression on the cement floor.

The deceased are Karthik Ramesh Naik (9) and Ramesh Mastayya Naik (35). The father and son duo were rushed to the government hospital immediately, but the doctors declared Karthik to be dead. The father was immediately sent to Manipal, but died on the way. The post mortem of the two bodies will be done at a hospital in Manipal.


The deputy superintendent informed that the police have retrieved a few more small bombs, which were used to catch pigs. Bomb squads from Mangalore, Karwar, and Bangalore will soon arrive in Bhatkal to investigate the case.
