Mangaluru, May 24, 2017: As the state and the central governments have in reality failed to address the issues raised by the Endosulfan victims, ’Endo Virodhi Hoarata Samithi’ has decided to launch fast unto death from May 27 in Kokkada town of Dakshina Kannada district.

Speaking to media in Bengaluru, activist Sreedhar Gowda of Kokkada who himself is an Endosulfan sufferer said that after the media brought out the pathetic living conditions of the endo victims, the state and central government did come up with a string of schemes and programmes for the endo-victims, most of which are yet to be implemented.

"Around 7,000 people are suffering due to the affects of Endosulfan sprayed in South Canara, North Canara and Udupi districts. This number is 3,612 in 92 villages of Belthangady, Puttur and Sulia taluks of the Dakshina Kannada district. But even today majority of the assurances given by the government agencies have not been fulfilled," he charged.

"We want time bound measures to solve the issues," he said adding that there are court orders on rehabilitating the Endo victims, which have not been implemented.
