Fake stamp paper scam will now be probed by the High Court

Sullia, April 30, 2014: The fake stamp paper scam case has now been entrusted to  CID probe   following an order by the High Court to that effect on April 29, Tuesday. It may be recalled here that the police had recently arrested BV Keshava Bhat, a notary based in Panja in connection with the case.


Fake stamp 2His office assistant Tara, Deviprasad and elder brother Subrahmanya Sharma also said to be involved in the case are already in custody. They were detained when Keshava Bhat  had gone underground.


Keshava Bhat has been charged of using fake stamp papers and  fake rubber stamps to prepare documents. It is yet to be known as to how much loss he has incurred to the state exchequer by using fake stamp papers.


 Hearing the case on the basis of a petition filed by G Timmaiah on April 29, Tuesday, the court said a CID probe should be ordered. Meanwhile, the court has dismissed a petition filed by Sunil Kumar, the then sub-inspector of Subrahmanya police station who was suspended  for releasing Keshava Bhat  once earlier on bail soon after his arrest.
