Fake passport user held at MIA

Mangaluru, May 27, 2018: The Bajpe police arrested a man who attempted to travel abroad using a fake passport at Mangaluru International Airport on May 24, Thursday night.

passport fraudThe arrested is Santhosh (30), a resident of Bailangadi Perumbale in Kasargod district. He was attempting to travel to Dubai by using a fake passport. While verifying his documents, the immigration officials noticed that he was using the passport of a person identified as Tamban.

It is said that Santhosh was working in Dubai and had come to his native place eight months ago. He had used the passport in the name of Tamban in the past as well.

During the interrogation, he reportedly told the police that Haniputha and Abdulla had helped him to get the passport in the name of Tamban.  The police produced him before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 15 days.

‘Dont heed rumours’  :  City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar has appealed the public not to pay heed to any rumour on child trafficking.  If the public has any doubt on an individual, then it should be reported to the police.

“A fake news on child traffickers has spread across the state. A few posts have been posted on social media in this regard. If the public has any doubt on a person, then it should be brought to the notice of the police station or control room 100,” said the commissioner.

He warned of initiating strict action against those who spread false news on child traffickers.
