Fake certificate racket unearthed in Mangalore

Mangalore, Feb 4:  The District Crime Investigation Bureau has unearthed a huge racket of providing fake immigration and qualification certificates following a raid on the Chinar Associates and Travels located at Pumpwell in Mangalore. Fake letter heads of several companies, seals of various companies and institutions,   fake gas connection cards, bank account books, certificates and a computer has been seized from the office of the firm, apart from a cash of Rs 21,325.

The raid on the firm followed the interrogation of three persons namely Jayaprakash, Gunakar and Satish who were about to board a flight from the Mangalore airport and were detained by the airport authorities who  suspected  the authenticity of the certificates and documents provided by the trio. The enquiry of the three revealed that they were sent from Chinar Associates and Travels by paying Rs 90,000 per head.

In the raid that followed under the guidance of SP Dr Subrahmanyeshwara Rao, by Additional SP Ramesh and his team, Thomas Prasad D’Souza was arrested from the office and the examination of his pen drive revealed that it had documents pertaining to fake certificates. Meanwhile, Abdulla, another partner of the firm, is absconding and the police are on the look out from him.
