FMMC students’ council office bearers take oath

Mangalore, Oct 17: The students’ council of Fr. Muller Medical College (FMMC) for the present academic year was launched along with “Solaris,” the 1-week inter-batch FMMC cultural extravaganza, at the academy hall of the college on Oct 16, Saturday.

The chief guest of the event was Alok Mohan, IGP of western range, who said in his address that the students’ council has a constructive role to play. Stressing on the importance of developing communication skills among leaders, he said that leadership qualities are imbibed and practiced and not just read about in books. Urging medical students, who will be doctors in future, not to get annoyed with public opinions, he advised them to respect all points of view and be tolerant.

Dr. B. Sanjeev Rai, the medical services chief, presented appreciation letters to the office bearers of the students’ council of the previous year for their valuable services.

Director of FMCI Fr. Patrick Rodrigues said in his presidential address that new office bearers should first give importance to God and then to others and finally to the self in order to achieve the motto of the students’ council.

President Roshan Iqbal, Vice President Betsy Ann Thomas, Secretary Shweta Shanbaug, and Joint Secretary Janet Jason Varghese, along with other members of the students’ council took their oaths.

Dean of FMMC Dr. J. P. Alva, Administrator of FMMC Fr. Denis D’Sa, Cultural Staff Advisor Dr. Meghana Mukund, and students were present for the inaugural ceremony.
