Export manufacturing facility in SEZ Gunjimatta catches fire

Mangaluru, May 10, 2017: Reports have come in of an export factory located at the Special Economic Zone of Ganjimutt catching fire here. It is said, Moha Packaging India Ltd which belonged to Mohammed Haneef and two others incurred a total loss of Rs 10 crores.

 

Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, short circuit at the factory is suspected to have led the blaze. Bajpe police got a call at around 2:40 am and immediately informed the owner on the same. Fire and Rescue Department officials rushed to the spot and extinguished fire.

This export-oriented manufacturing unit manufactures items made of plastic. The factory had a large stock of industries packaging items, liners, etc being produced there besides waste material. Huge stock of finished products which were kept ready for export to Dubai in a couple of days were reduced to ashes along with machinery, it is gathered.  However, no known injuries etc...have resulted from the incident of fire.
