Mangaluru, May 22, 2019: The District Administration can supply water to the city from Thumbay vented dam till June 10 in accordance to the present system of water rationing, said Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil.
Speaking to reporters here on May 22, Wednesday, the DC said monsoon is expected to commence on June 6 and in case it was delayed by a few days then water will be supplied through tankers. He also stated that the present water level at Thumbay dam stood at 3.42 meters.
He further said that water will be supplied to educational institutions upon request and added that there was no need to declare holidays due to the water problem.
In another development, the district administration is expected to undertake dredging operations to remove the silt accumulated in the dam. The dredging will be done under the supervision of a committee headed by a sub-divisional officer, the DC informed.
