Ex-Udupi MLA seeks clarification from sitting MLA on ’Commission’ remarks

Udupi, Feb 11, 2016 : Former Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat has sought a clarification from sitting MLA Pramod Madhwaraj on his recent statement  that "Legislators were compelled to be corrupt as they need money for elections."

 He also wanted an explanation from the MLA  for his statement that  had he opted to be paid 10 per cent commission on the total grant on developmental works, he would have earned as much as Rs 132 crores.


He also alleged that the MLA’s statement was an insult to the parliamentary democracy system of India.

Speaking to reporters  here, Bhat also wanted the MLA to  furnish details pertaining to the Rs 1,320 crore  grant which he claims to have  brought to his Udupi constituency.


He further accused Madhwaraj of failing to solve the problems confronting his constituency and also to fulfil the demands of the people of the constituency.

Referring to the upcoming  Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections, Bhat exuded confidence of a BJP win in all panchayats.
