Ex-MLA of Brahmavar Jayaprakash Shetty passes away

Udupi, Sep 8, 2015: S Jayaprakash Shetty(81), former MLA of Brahmavar passed away at a private hospital  in Manipal on September 7, Monday following a brief illness.

Shetty had contested as an independent from the Brahmavar assembly constituency in 1967 and had won the elections.

He was an MLA during the chief ministership of Veerendra Patil.

After his five year term as MLA he  remained away from politics and was active in social work and had played a pivotal role in the agitation demanding early implementation of the Varahi Irrigation Project and also  the repair of the NH 66.
