Mangaluru, April 8, 2018: Though VVPAT machines are used for the first time in the district to allow voters to verify if their vote has gone to the intended candidate, there is always a scope for appeal in case of any doubt and the voting process can be cancelled if the suspicion regarding any indiscrepancy is found true, said Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner as well as Election officer of Mangaluru Assembly Constituency Mahesh Karjagi.
Addressing a meeting of representatives of various political parties at the AC Court Hall at the Mini Vidhana Saudha on April 8, Sunday to discuss issues relating to poll code of conduct, he said every effort would be made to conduct transparent elections and warned of stern action if poll code violation cases come to light.
Stating that there is no hindrance of any sort to hold religious, social or any other programmes, he however warned that stern action would follow if politics creeps in such programmes.
Posters, banners, buntings can be put in poll campaign events two hours ahead of the programme and the same have to be removed one hour after the programme. No political campaign meets can be held after 10 pm, he said.
