Environment-friendly Ganesh captivates at Manipal

Manipal, Sep 04, 2016: It is reported that Udupi / Manipal  team of artistes of the Manipal Sand Heart Team have created an idol of Lord Ganesh using environment-friendly materials, as they do every year, here on  Sept 3, Saturday.

Ganesh 4The idol is 10 feet long, five feet wide and weighs very light. This idol, though so huge to look at, has been made with handmade paper, paper cups and some cloth.

It took the three artistes – Srinath Manipal, Venki Palimar and Ravi Hirebettu – two days to create this idol. The papers used for the making of this idol are of white, maroon, yellow, golden, black and orange colours.

A garland around the neck has been made of green colour, while there is another garland made of paper cups. Paper cones have been used in the making of the crown. Though the idol had been made of these simple materials, it is captivating.   “Our team has always been trying to spread the message of protection of environment and prevention of pollution during the Ganesha festival. This is one such small attempt,” said Srinath Manipal, leader of the team.  The idol is on display at a business establishment on the Court Back Road Junction till September 15.

Pejawar seer condemns social media posts : A media release issued,  Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt has condemned the recent posts against a Hindu goddess on a social media platform.  The seer said that such incidents affected the feelings of people and could lead to breach of peace in the society. “Whether the deed had been done by Hindus or others, all people should condemn it. The government should take stern action on this matter,” the release added.
