Mangaluru, March 03, 2015: It has come to light quite late that a Russian passenger who suffered a stroke mid-air while travelling in a Tiruvananthapuram- Mumbai Air India Express flight, was saved in the nick of time after the alert pilot made an emergency landing at the Mangaluru International Airport.
The incident is learnt to have taken place on February 24. The Russian passenger named Artur Izotov (47) was rushed to the hospital from the airport where an ambulance and a doctor were ready to attend on the patient.
According to Air India officials the emergency landing was made at 2.02 pm by the captain, thanks to his presence of mind which saved the life of the passenger. The plane then took off within half an hour to its destination.
Nagesh Shetty, Air India Station Manager who had accompanied the patient to the hospital, says the patient who recovered in the hospital, later left for Goa by the Matsyagandha Express.
