Mangaluru, Aug 31, 2018: Elections to the Urban Local Bodies in Ullal, Puttur and Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district and Udupi, Kundapur, Karkala and Saligrama of Udupi district have commenced on the morning of August 31, Friday. A total of 89 wards are going to the polls and the total number of voters is 1,17,979.
As many as 102 candidates are contesting from 31 wards of Ullal which has 44,132 voters. In Puttur, 77 candidates are in fray in the 31 wards which have a total of 39,745 voters. In Bantwal, 71 candidates are in fray in the 27 wards with the number of voters standing at 34,102.
A total of 18 polling booths in Ullal and 18 in Bantwal have been declared as hyper sensitive, while there are 11 sensitive booths in Ullal, 27 in Puttur and 14 in Bantwal.
For the first time in ULB polls voters can exercise NOTA option.
In Udupi election is being held in 98 polling booths of 35 wards, in Kundapur there are 23 polling booths for 23 wards, while in Karkala too there are 23 polling booths in the 23 wards.
