Eight students arrested for selling cannabis

Mangaluru, Jan 14, 2019: The police have arrested eight students from Kerala studying in three colleges in the city on the charge of selling cannabis to students and other people in the city.

Of them seven were studying in two engineering colleges, and another was a physiotherapy student in the city. A police release on Sunday said that the accused were allegedly purchasing cannabis from Kerala and selling it in the city.

Police personnel from the Central Crime Branch and Economic and Narcotic Crime Wing raided a place in Morgan’s Gate and arrested the accused on Saturday.

The police have identified the arrested as Akshay K. Prasad, 22, from Kollam; Nimil, 21; Amit Shrivatsan, 21; Ashwin, 21, and Akshay, 22, all from from Kannur; Mohammed Amir, 22, from Kozhikode, Aakash S. Nayak, 23, from Pathanamthitta, and Jaffar, 22, from Kannur in Mangaluru.

The police said the accused operated from a residential apartment in Padil.
