Eight cops likely to face action for backing inspector Pramod Kumar

Mangaluru, March 05, 2016: It has been gathered that   the office of Mangaluru Police Commissioner has recommended  action against eight police personnel in connection with an incident reported a few months ago wherein they had staged a protest in support of Mangaluru Rural Station Inspector who was reportedly sent on leave and was  facing suspension over the arrest of an accused in the Ulaibettu clash case.

S I Pramod KumEarlier, MLC Ivan D’Souza in a letter to the Chairman of Legislative Council had sought  information about the action taken report. The Home Department had later sought details in this regard from the Office of the Mangaluru Police Commissioner.

It has been gathered that Mangaluru Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar had sent recommendation for action against the personnel   based on the report filed by DCP (Law and Order) Shantharaju and Panambur ACP Madan Gaonkar.

It may be recalled here that Inspector Pramod Kumar who was initially sent on leave following the arrest of the Ulaibettu clash accused after he reportedly failed to bow to pressure to release the accused, had later  joined duty following pressure from his colleagues as well as some Hindu outfits which had also joined the  protest.
