Edwin J F D’Souza to be honoured with Konkani Kutam award

Mangaluru: September 23, 2015: The executive committee of Konkani Kutam, Bahrain has chosen city based writer Edwin J F D’Souza for the prestigious Konkani Kutam Award. Konkani Kutam Bahrain is a voluntary forum formed exclusively for promoting Konkani language, literature and culture in 2000. The forum constituted Konkani Kutam award in 2002 and will be conferred on J F D’Souza at a function to be held at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall, Bendore on October 10.

Richard Moras, local convener of Konkani Kutam said the award is an endeavour to support Konkani writers and artists. The award consists of a citation, memento and a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The executive committee has analysed and evaluated the significant contribution of Edwin to Konkani cause; Moras said describing him as a popular Konkani writer. Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will be the chief guest, he noted.
