Mangaluru, Nov 16, 2019:  Addressing the participants at the inaugural ceremony of DST- Inspire Internship Science Camp-2019 organised by Department of Microbiology and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India at Pilikula on November 15,Friday; Prof G D Khedkar, Director, Aurangabad Dr B A M University Paul Hebert Centre for DNA Bar-coding and Biodiversity Studies, he stated that in our India, people still have the mindset of studying for the sake of securing jobs and making lots of money. With this old mindset. looking at  Israel, which has 11 universities is far advanced in scientific achievement. And we with over 1,000 universities are nowhere near them.

He went on to say that the the government wants to provide an opportunity for skilled scientists. “Inspire is not a single programme, but a selection of talents at various levels to provide them an opportunity to pursue higher education,” he added. Pilikula Regional Science Centre Director Prof K V Rao inaugurated the programme.

He stressed on expected changes in science teaching and urged students to think ‘out of the box’. “They should keep their minds, ears, and eyes open to gain knowledge,” he added.

Presiding over the programme, University College Principal Dr Uday Kumar M A said that learning is important than studying. “Enjoy each minute of life. Don’t suffer education,” he advised.

The camp will continue till November 18. Over 200 students from various educational institutions are participating in the camp.
