Education can make a self respecting person

Mangalore, Aug 11, 2014: Speaking after inaugurating the ‘Sirithuppe,’ conferment of Brahmashri gold medal, scholarship distribution and Guruvandana programme organised by Narayanaguru Yuva Vedike at Town Hall in Mangalore on August 10. Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment B Ramanath Rai, stated , when the nation got independence, the ownership of land was enjoyed by a very few people in villages. Today, how can hundreds of people be the land holders? The people, who allege that the governments have not made any achievement in the last 60 years, should note this point.

 

 

 

Justice could be guaranteed to the people through equality. Also, a society free from atrocities could be built only through education, he said and added that it is more worthy to provide power to earn rather than  donating him food. In this regard, it is important to encourage education.

Minister for Urban Development and Udupi district in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake said it was the duty of the elderly to protect the folklore and pass it on to the next generation.  Every skill has its own significance and students should not confine themselves to the studies of medical and engineering.  MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary and former Minister Krishna J Palemar were present.

Varsha of Puttur, who scored 98 per cent marks in SSLC examinations, was presented with a gold medal. Meanwhile, retired Headmaster Krishnappa Poojary of Harekala was honoured. The students who scored more than 90 per cent marks were felicitated.  Mumbai based Entrepreneur Babau Shivapoojary released the souvenir ‘Brahmashri’ on the occasion.
