Speaking after accepting felicitation on behalf of the Dakshina Kannada Cricket Association at Hotel Moti Mahal here on May 29, Friday,  Srinath said  playing cricket will help in promoting team spirit among youngsters while also developing a bonding with others of their peer group.

 

Continuing, Srinath said   family support plays crucial in developing a youngster into a budding cricketer.

On this occasion, he requested the DK Cricket Association to promote and train more young cricketing talents.

Dr Shantharam Shetty, Vice Chancellor of Nitte University, who spoke as a chief guest, stressed the need for better infrastructure to promote cricket in the city which has produced exceptionally talented personalities in various minister. He also made a request to Sports Minister Abhayachandra Jain who hails from the district to take steps to construct a cricket stadium in Mangaluru.

State Minister for Sports and Youth Services Abhayachandra Jain who  also  addressed the function,  urged parents to encourage children in sports field along with education.

Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, Ivan D’Souza, MLC, A Sadananda Shetty, Chairman, Shree Devi Institutions, Shridar Kamath, Director of Gopal Kamath and Company and others were present on the occasion.
