Addressing the protestors, Senior Writer Erya Laxminarayana Alva said that the education system in the state was presently in a critical state wherein several Kannada Medium schools are on the verge of permanent closure. This will have a negative impact on under privileged children to get enrolled to schools.

He also said that though  people who learnt in Kannada medium were in good positions, people still hesitate  to send their children to Kannada Medium schools. He also  urged the government to ensure that some schools do not get closed  permanently.

In his introductory speech President of Sri Durga Friends Prakash Anchan said that the condition of the students in remote areas are  pathetic  due to shortage of teachers and also criticised  the new rule of transferring additional teachers.

"We are dismayed with the response from the government so far to  our demands. The government needs to fulfil the demands immediately. The government should withdraw   transfer of additional teachers and  appoint teachers  to schools which has shortage of teaching staff, he said and  warned of a state wide stir and a  “Bengaluru Chalo”  programme if the demands were not fulfilled.

Education activist Ashok Bhat and Media Convenor Sandeep were  present.
