Duo nabbed for blackmailing, robbing Kerala based businessman

Mangaluru, Sep 27, 2018 : A lady activist of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike was arrested along with another person on the charges of  robbing a businessman of Kerala origin after blackmailing and abducting him.

 

Those arrested are Rakesh (32) of Kuthar and Srilatha. Sources said the duo had  targeted a 76 year old businessman named Shashi who was residing in the city for the past 35 years and had an illicit relationship with a woman. It is said he had also recorded videos of him being with the woman.

 One such CD  somehow landed in the hands of the accused woman who had begun to blackmail Shashi.

On September 23, the accused asked Shashi to come near Karavali Utsav ground from where he was abducted in a car  by Abhilash, Abhijith and Sujith. Later he was taken to Suratkal and demanded Rs 5 lakhs. The accused even  threatened to upload the videos on social sites if he failed to yield. When Shashi turned down their demand,  they robbed  the Rs 18,000 cash he had with him along with his wrist watch, chain and ring.

Barke police who have registered a case are on the lookout for the other accused in this case.
