Duo arrested near Nantur for plotting robbery ; weapons seized

Mangaluru, Dec 13, 2014: Two persons hailing from Gurupur were arrested by the CCB police on December 12, Friday  near Nantur in the city on suspicion that they were planning a major robbery.

 

Meanwhile a few others who were with them  were successful in giving the cops a slip. Sharp weapons, three live bullets, a fake revolver and two cell phones were seized from the duo.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Rafique alias Thote Rafique (42) and Ashfaq(24).  Interrogations of the duo revealed that Ashfaq was wanted  in a stabbing case reported from Bajpe four years ago and had fled the nation once he got a bail in the case. Though he had returned a couple of years back, he failed to appear before the court following which an arrest warrant had been issued against him.

The operation was led by CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza and his team.
