Drunk man guns down friend

Kundapur, June 20, 2016: In a state of drunken bliss a man was gunned down by his friend at Mekodu junction in Kundapur on June 18, Saturday. The deceased was identified as Prashanth Shetty (24), resident of Kambadakone. The accused Ankith Shetty (24) was arrested.

It is said that Prashanth, Manish Shetty and Deepak Shetty had lunch at Ankith’s house and at night they consumed alcohol at a bar in Navunda; they later decided to go on a hunt. They returned to Ankith’s house and when Ankith had a pistol, he accidentally pulled the triggered and Prashanth was injured in the chest. Ankith’s father realized that his son pulled the trigger in a drunken stupor and rushed Prashanth to a hospital at Kundapur but he succumbed on the way. The body was sent for postmortem and the bullet for forensic investigation.

Though initially Ankith gave contradictory statements to police, he later confessed to the crime. A case was registered at Byndoor police station and investigations are on.
