Drugs menace : Top cop asks educational institutions to regularly check bags of students

Mangaluru, Nov 06 2019:  City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha has asked the managements of all educational institutions to undertake regular checking of bags of students in schools, colleges and hostels in order to check the menace of drugs.

 

The Commissioner’s warning has come in the wake of the increasing menace of drugs in the city and the recent crackdown launched by the police.

He said the  Deparmtent would appeal to the courts to permit search warrants to the Police Department to conduct checking in schools and colleges.

He said the Department has  constituted a team to check drugs mafia in the city. Pointing out that  small time drug traffickers have already been arrested, the Commissioner said that  the Department would  crack the whip  on the  entire network.
