Drug bust by Excise officials at Jalligudde yields ganja, three held

Mangaluru, Feb 6, 2016: In a calculated strike, excise officials today raided a house at Jalligudde in the city and seized large amount of ganja which was stocked in the house. The raid resulted in the arrest of three suspects who were present at the site.

Excise officials decided to raid the house after receiving specific information that contraband narcotics were being sold from the house. The raid yielded about 800 grams of ganja which was stored packets of 20 grams, 50 grams and 200 grams. The seized ganja is estimated to be worth Rs. 50,000/-

The officials also confiscated other tools used in the illegal trade, including an electronic weighing scale, machete and mobile phones.

Those arrested were: Chandu alias Venkatesh Jalligudde, Avinash Padil and Naufal Jalligudde. They have since been produced in court.

The raid was conducted by a team led by Deputy Superintendent V Chandrappa, Inspectors Satish Kumar,  Amarnath, S S Bhandary and other officers under the directions of excise deputy commissioner L A Manjunath, and deputy superintendent Dr Ashalata.
