Dr Rathnakara Sadananda re-elected to Church of South India

Dr Rathnakara SadanandaMangaluru, Jan 22, 2017: Rev Dr Daniel Rathnakara Sadananda of Mangaluru, has been re-elected for a second term as general secretary of the Church of South India (CSI) Synod for the triennium 2017-2020. He was re-elected at the recently-concluded 35th session of the Synod of Church of South India held at Kottayam from January 14 to 17, 2017.

The Church of South India is the largest protestant Church in India with 24 Dioceses, 16,000 churches in five Southern Indian states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Jaffna in Sri Lanka with 4.5 million members. The CSI also runs 2,000 schools, 100 colleges, 57 hospitals and 250 Child Care projects apart from many community and social empowerment projects.

Dr Sadananda is currently also president of the United Theological College, Bengaluru (2015- 2018), vice-president of National Council of Churches in India (2016-2020), an Ecumenical Forum of 30 Protestant and Orthodox Churches in India representing 14 million Christians and executive secretary of the Communion of Churches in India, joint council of CSI, CNI and Marthoma Churches.
