Dr P V Bhandary inaugurates campaign at Salumarada Thimmakka Tree Park

Udupi, Dec 12, 2019:   Trees are thoughtlessly felled in the name of development and destruction of  the future generations results, Doddanagudde Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital Director Dr P V Bhandary said.

 

He was speaking after inaugurating environment conservation campaign, organised jointly by SIO Udupi, Doddanagudde Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital and Samvedana Art and Culture Karnataka, at Salumarada Thimmakka Tree Park at Manipal.

“Destruction of nature had invited catastrophe in Kodagu and North Karnataka. “All these disasters are man-made. If we fail to wake up to prevent damage, the future generation will be in danger,” he warned.

Bhandary said in the name of four-laning of Brahmavar Road (Seethanadi-Brahmavar Road), there is a proposal to fell more than 1,000 trees. Already, a letter has been written to Kundapura DCF. The public should also start a postcard campaign to warn the government against felling of the trees.
