Dr Heggade releases Vishwa Tulu Sammelano 2009 DVD

Mangalore, Mar 6:  Dharmadhikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade released the DVD of ’Vishwa Tulu Sammelano 2009’ at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College on March 6, Saturday and expressed his appreciation of Namma Kudla for preserving the World Tulu Convention in the form of a DVD. Mr. Heggade also launched the Namma Kudla’s brand new website www.nammakudlanews.com, designed by Santhosh K Karkera.

Dr. Heggade said that the DVD serves to highlight the efforts of the elders to preserve Tulu language and culture for the sake of the future generation. Namma Kudla has succeeded in achieving the impossible by condensing 76 hours of the convention into a five-and-a-half hour DVD without destroying the beauty and charm of the original event, he said.


He also revealed that plans are afoot to establish an innovative Tulu Cultural Hall, provided the government agrees to sanction 5 acres of land for the same.


Krishna J Palemar, the district-in-charge minister, received the first copy of the DVD, and said that the younger generation must also get a chance to enjoy the beauty of the World Tulu Convention. Modern technology and the efforts of Namma Kudla have made it possible for the future generations to reap the benefits of the World Tulu Convention, he said.

Dr. P Dayanand Pai delivered a Tulu speech, in which he said that the World Tulu Convention was the most wonderful programme ever conducted under the leadership of Dr. Heggade. The event must be viewed at least once in life, he said, adding that more events of the kind must be conducted in future for the benefit of the younger generation.


He further said that, thanks to the World Tulu Convention, people around the globe now have more faith in the people of DK and their ability to conduct huge programmes. He also urged Dr. Heggade to establish a Tulu Cultural Hall.


Rohini, who is a teacher, was presented a memento for lending her charming voice to describe the events of the World Tulu Convention for the DVD. Namma Kudla also presented Dr. Heggade a model of the Tulu Sahitya Sammelan logo as a memento.


Manohar Prasad and Kadri Navneeth Shetty were the comperers of the programme.


MP Nalin Kumar Kateel; D Surendra Kumar; D Harshendra Kumar; Dr. M Mohan Alva; Dr. Yashovarma; B P Karkera, the founder of Namma Kudla TV Channel; P Jayaram Bhat, the managing director of Karnataka Bank; Dr K Devaraj, the principal of SDM College of Business Management; and Kumble Sundar Rao, the president of the Yakshagana Academy also participated in the occasion.


The World Tulu Convention DVD can be obtained at any video parlor or the Namma Kudla office, which is located at Besant Complex, Kodialbail. The cost of the DVD is Rs 149.
