Dr. Gunachandra Rai passes away

Dr-Gunachandra...Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2019: City based oral maxillofacial surgeon Dr. B. Gunachandra Rai (52) passed away early Saturday morning (October 12) following illness. He breathed his last at Yenepoya Hospital in the city, where he had been undergoing treatment for some time.


He was a resident of Vas Lane in the city. He is survived by his mother Usha, wife Sunaina, daughter Sathvi who is studying in first year pre-university, elder brother Premchandra Rai and younger sister Vijaya.

He was the grandson of Dr. A. T. Rai, a reputed dentist of the yester years. His father Ganesh Narayan Rai, a forest department officer, had passed away when he was studying in eighth standard.

Dr. Gunachandra Rai was an alumnus of St. Aloysius School and College and AB Shetty Institute of Dental Science.  He was serving as a Senior Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at Yenepoya Deemed-to-be University, Derlakatte, Mangalore.

Funeral will be on Sunday morning at his residence at Vas Lane, 3rd Cross (Behind Vas Lane Enclave), according to family sources.
